Install Adobe AIR in Linux

E-mail Print PDF

Installing third party applications may not be the easiest thing in the world if you're a novice Linux user, but today, we will show you how to install Adobe AIR Linux on your system.

Adobe AIR Linux was not too long ago released as a final release and we will shoAdobe Installedw you how to go about installing it. On my system, I am using OpenSuse 11.1 and we will be installing it, but it will work on any other distro that you use such as Fedora 10, Ubuntu, etc.

First, download Adobe AIR from here. Once that is done, we will now show you how to install it. We will not use any command line to do any of these steps, but if you know how, you could save a bit of time.

Secondly, we will make the file executable, this is the most important step because by default it is not. To make it executable, right click on it and choose Properties and then select under the Permissions tab, Is Executable.

After that, all we have to do is rename the file. To do so, right click on the file and just remove the .bin extension and click OK.

Once those two steps are done, just click on the file (or double click) and then you should see the Adobe installer screen. Once you see that let it install and from there you are set.

Adobe AIR lets you install pretty nifty tools on your computer, for a selection of the applications you can install you can go to Adobe AIR's website over here and install applications. Adobe AIR program installation

It's as simple as that. There will be more applications in the future and some of them look promising already. A special thanks for this guide goes to Telic who provided the basis of this guide.
